Deputy Minister of Integration, Jorida Tabaku, resigned for being assigned as Vice Mayor of Tirana.
Tabaku was on top of the Democratic Party list for the Municipal Councilors in the last local elections.
The new Mayor of Tirana started his work today, and he is expected to elect his other close collaborators.
Basha: Tirana, not an arena of political battles
Lulzim Basha took the oath as the new Mayor of Tirana in front of the Municipal Council, which was constituted after a 4 hours long meeting.
In his greeting speech, addressed to the councilors and citizens, Basha declared that Tirana is property of no political party, and it will not turn into an arena of political battles.
Basha listed the priorities of his program for the first 100 days.
“I will start working. I have an ambitious program for the first 100 days. A top priority will be the establishment of an office for the protection of the consumers, business promotion, solving the issue of the heavy traffic in Tirana, apartment property titles and the finances of the Municipality, all of which based on Transparency”, Basha declared.
SP: Election against the procedures
After the oath of the new Mayor of Tirana, SP Municipality Council members gave their first reactions.
Councilor Aldrin Dalipi declared that the oath ceremony was held against the procedures, adding that in this process was not heard the voice of the citizens, but that of some councilors.
