What is today a park, just one year and a half ago was the biggest pollution spot of Elbasan.
Thousands of tons of urban waste were burning in this area, causing a catastrophic pollution that was spreading throughout the city.
The situation was more problematic for the nearby residents, who had it impossible to live there.
“It was very bad. The entire area has been populated. We couldn’t open our windows”, residents say.
The waste is now processed in an implant, the only one of its kind in Albania. However, recently there have been debates about the impact of the incinerator implant.
Top Channel asked residents of the area where the implant was built, in Bradashesh.
“We are saved now. It was 24 hours of bad smell. We are much better with the implant. The smell is gone”, they say.
