Debate for the Pyramid

The Austrian newspaper “Der Standard” dedicated a reportage to the
building in Tirana called “The Pyramid” and the government’s decision
for destroying it.

This article presents several reactions from the civil society and even from foreign diplomats who were against the demolition, but it also includes the opinion of the Austrian architect Wolfgang Prix, the winner for the project of the new Albanian Parliament that will be built there where today stands “The Pyramid”.

According to Prix, the pyramid is a prehistoric building and the real pyramids are in Cairo, therefore the one in Tirana should be demolished.

But the head of the Albanian Architects Association, Artan Shkreli reacted after the opinion of the Austrian architect, saying that this declaration is not ethical and there is conflict of interest.

“There is a total lack of ethics when saying that the pyramids belong to the past millenniums. It is shameful when he gives an opinion about this, since he has a conflict of interest. This shows that he is thinking only about the millions of Euros that he will benefit”, Shkreli declared.

He thinks that this declaration of the Austrian architect is based on his personal interests and that of the Albanian circles who will benefit from this project.
