Former Health Minister Tritan Shehu of the opposition Democratic Party stated today that “physical distancing” in the workplace is severely compromised in Albanian call centers and manufacturing businesses.

In a Facebook post, Shehu writes:
“Physical distance keeping is heavily compromised by activities like Call Centers, manufacturing, etc.
Even according to Italian specialists, some of whom I am in touch with, economic activities carried out with such concentrations of workers, and especially indoors, invalidate general measures of “physical distancing” in the fight against the coronavirus epidemic.

“This is considered one of the main reasons for the large differences in the pandemic situation between Northern Italy and other parts.

“In Lombardy for example, the economic activity is based on giant manufacturing companies, large banks, strategic institutions etc., with human labor concentrations, which can hardly be closed down.

“Whereas in other parts of Italy, small and medium enterprises, farmers, autonomous workers, etc., are dominant, without large concentrations of individuals, which are easily controllable”.
