The EU mediator for the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia, Robert Cooper, arrived in Prishtina in the first hours of the day.

He met with the Kosovo Prime Minister, Hashim Thaci, and the main negotiator Edita Tahiri.

The government has notified that there will be no press release for their positions about the dialogue with Serbia. The opinion is expected to be announced through a later declaration.

Part of the meeting were the representatives of the EU in Kosovo, Fernando Gentilini, and government members such as the Trade Minister, Mimoza Kusari Lila, and the Minister of Integration, Vlora Citaku.

Cooper has visited Prishtina after Belgrade, where he was unable to convince the Serbian counterpart to return to the dialogue mediated by Brussels.

The Serbian negotiator, Borko Stefanovic, declared that Serbia will not return to dialogue if they will not discuss the political issues of Northern Kosovo.

The negotiations between Serbia and Kosovo failed after the increased tensions in north, where the Serbian extremists placed roadblocks for stopping the advance of the KFOR troops, EULEX and Kosovo Police, for extending the law and order in the northern areas of the new state.

A few days earlier, the Prime Minister Thaci expressed his readiness for the dialogue with Serbia, but only as two independent states.

“If the political dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia would mean the readiness of the leaders of two independent countries, who want to successfully start a new chapter of peace and mutual understanding, I am ready to start this dialogue even today”, Thaci declared.
