Besides changing the EU map, the consequences of Brexit in Great Britain itself are expected to be complex. Zenel Hoxha, one of the organizers of the Albanian diaspora after the 90s, says that Great Britain used to be known as the most multi-cultural country in the EU.
“Brexit brought an economic shock and since it came as a request of British citizens to stop foreigners take jobs in their country, there will be a higher emigration control”, Zenel Hoxha says.
“Great Britain truly is a country of freedom and democracy. Albanians have felt very well here. They are among the youngest communities, just 20 years. Brexit left a very bitter taste for the fact that the entire propaganda machinery was focused against foreigners’, Hoxha says.
Besides the economic consequences, there are many social ones as well which are starting to be felt after Brexit.
“I think that it was more of a manipulated referendum, not a representation of what the British people think. There are numerous cases of Brexit activists who have racist hidden purposes, especially after the referendum”, Zenel Hoxha says.
