The Albanian President declared that the recent political and post-election events in Tirana have given the wrong signal, becoming an obstacle for realizing the visit of the European Commission President, Jose Manuel Barroso in our country, scheduled for May 20th.
“The President of the Albanian Republic, Prof. Dr. Bamir Topi, declares that the
postponement of European Commission President visit in Albania is
an unpleasant event and a delayed chance for our country”, says the press
release of the President, explaining that this stance was taken after
the media’s interest on latest events.
The Head of the State appealed
“for the return of democratic normality; for the public interest to
prevail above parties’ interests; for maturity and responsibility; for
showing leading abilities in finding legal and democratic ways for
solving the created problems”.
