The concerns raised by the opposition for the process of opening the
ballot boxes at CEC have obliged head of OSCE, Eugen Wolfarth to visit
the institution.

The purpose of this visit was the transparency and integrity of this process that is being carried out by Electoral College’s order. Head of OSCE held a meeting with CEC Chairman Arben Ristani.

Wolfarth had planned to attend to this meeting also with the participation of CEC vice Chair Deshira Subashi.

It remains unknown why Mrs. Subashi was not part of this meeting, but OSCE ambassador, right after meeting Ristani, has had a phone conversation with CEC vice Chair.

CEC Spokesperson, Leonard Olli, declared that Ristani and Wolfarth talked about the performance of this process, and that the meeting had an informative nature. Right after this meeting, Mr. Wolfarth gave a short comment.

“Integration and transparency have a special significance, and this is the reason why I am here. I had information for what is going on here, that’s why I wanted to eliminate any kind of comment regarding this matter”, Wolfarth declared.

The Head of OSCE is the first western official that visits CEC after the vote counting process that started this Saturday, ordered by the Electoral College.

The last western official who has visited CEC was ODIHR main observer, Jonathan Stonestreet, one day before he left Albania.

Mr. Stonestreet commented that this visit was part of his mission for collecting information for the final report.
