Foreign media outlets, especially German ones, are mentioning the possibility of building refugee centres in Albania and other Balkan countries.

In an interview for Deutsche Welle, the Austrian Director against Human Trafficking, Gerald Tatzgern, declared that Vienna will support Albania concretely.

Tatzgern confirms that a large number of people are already on the way to Austria and Germany, around 60,000 people. 17,000 others are in Greek islands and they have the right to travel freely around Greece.

Austria, according to him, is ready to build camps outside the EU, in which there will be verifications if they have the right to continue their trip towards Europe.

“If these centres are built, then we need to support the respective police agencies”, said the high-level Austrian official.

“There will be joint operations in the Albanian-Greek border. We will see the possibility of offering technical support by sending our personnel there”, he explained.
