Over 25 tonnes of illegal waste (electrical and electronic equipment), ready to be shipped to Albania, have been seized at the port of Ancona by Customs Agency staff and Carabinieri del Noe, Italian media report.
The seizures were carried out at two different times this month, as part of customs checks on waste and export goods.
The first case concerns a semitrailer, stopped on February 4, containing electrical equipment without the required documentation and therefore classified as waste.
Similarly, on February 14, a truck full of second hand washing machines and ovens was seized, with no certificates and documentation proving the origin.
