Albanian coronavirus map expands to Tropoja, number of infected rises to 174

The number of people infected with Covid-19 has reached 174, as 28 new cases have been reported in the country in the last 24 hours, stated the Public Health Institution in its daily briefing.

“We inform you that in the last 24 hours 28 new cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed and 103 tests have been performed. To date, a total of 1144 tested suspected cases were tested, of which were confirmed positive with COVID-19, 174 citizens.

“A 71-year-old patient from Tirana, confirmed with COVID-19, hospitalized in the Infectious Disease Hospital, in respiratory-assisted intensive care, died yesterday evening. Despite the doctors’ efforts, the 71-year-old hypertensive woman, hospitalized for 7 days at the Infectious Disease Hospital, failed to survive. The 71-year-old is the sixth victim affected of COVID-19 in Albania.

“There are 73 hospitalized patients in the infectious service and 3 of them are in intensive care of which 2 in assisted respiration. The rest are in stable condition until this moment.

“The map of those affected by COVID-19 has already been extended to the northernest town Tropoja, and the number has increased in Tirana, Korça, Fier, Durres, Lezha and Elbasan”, stated the authorities.
