Two years ago, an act from the President Barrack Obama, as President of the country where Albania submitted the NATO tractate, sealed the admission of Albania and Croatia in NATO.

Two years after, the protagonists of this day, President Bamir Topi and Prime Minister Sali Berisha, spoke on the merits and duties that Albania receives from this membership.

During a visit to the Commando Forces in Zallherr, President of Albania and at the same time Chief Commander of Armed Forces, Bamir Topi, confirmed the government reforms merit on this achievement.

“Albania’s actual status in NATO comes as result of the deep political and military reforms”, Topi declared.

The Prime Minister was undoubtedly on the same line, but he also mentioned the support of western allies, especially that of the United States of America.

“Nato membership was a result of the support given by the Alliance and its country members”, the Prime Minister said.

But this membership also has obligations. The Albanian President mentioned the political forces obligation for a civic election campaign.

“Let us enter the election campaign with a civic behavior, similar to European Countries’ policy, and put these elections to the service of the citizens”, Topi emphasized.

The Prime Minister expressed his optimism on these elections: “Albanians have had and will have elections according to the NATO countries’ standards”, Berisha said.

Recently, the Prime Minister and the President haven’t shared very often the same opinion on one political matter.
