10 years after starting construction, Arber Road seems far from being completed

The Arber Road is an eyesore today, more than 10 years after its
construction works were inaugurated. “The road has been damaged, even
trucks find it hard to go through”, says one resident.

The road that connects Tirana with Dibra is 75 kilometers long, but only 17 were built so far, from Bulqiza to Ura e Cerencit.

“Nothing has been done for the past 10 years”, another resident says.

The government started negotiating with a Chinese company in 2014. Although Prime Minister Rama mentioned it as something big, the bid was rejected due to the high cost.

While residents say that no work has been done for the psat three years, official sources from the Ministry of Transportation say that the Chinese have brought another offer, which is under evaluation. But now it is the government not very happy about the bid.

Two days ago, PM Edi Rama mentioned once again the promise of 2013, with a justifying tone, saying that he would not leave duty without completing the Arber Road.

What he didn’t explain was if he meant for 2017 or 2021.
