The Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, attended the Conference of Urbanists at the Czech Republic, where he spoke about the transformations that are taking place in Tirana.

Veliaj said that he is receiving very positive feeback for the changes in Tirana, while he is meeting with artists for the National Theater issue. He expressed his respect and gratitude for artists, adding that through dialogue they can reach great things together.

“If we had with each other the same kindness the world is showing us, as we wait for the results of the award for the Skanderbeg square, we could do wonderful things”, he said.

The Mayor of Albania’s capital said that during these three years the city has been recovering the lost time. “After a long sleep, the city is now running forward”, he said, adding that Tirana could be a great model in Europe.

“In Prague, at the Forum of Architects and Urbanism we had the chance to speak about Tirana’s transformation from a North-Korean-style town to a thriving European city, with growing economy and increased artistic and cultural wealth”, Veliaj said.

He guaranteed that citizens have embraced novelties, such as Mobike bicycles,  and the drastic renovations with the Skanderbeg Square and the New Market.
