A serious accident occurred this morning on the national road axis Urë Vajgurore-Lushnje, near the village Poshnje.
A freight van traveling in the direction of Berat, collided with 2 pensioners on bicycles and then went off the road, overturning in the opposite side.
The pensioners who are reported to be seriously injured, are residents of the surrounding villages and trade milk every day in the city, while the driver of the van with license plates AA 374 NT, was slightly injured as the vehicle overturned on the road. The injured Sotir Avrami, 68 years old and Spiro Veshi, 63 years old, were transported in serious condition to the Berat Regional Hospital, where according to the doctors their condition is critical.
It is presumed that the driver of the vehicle was traveling at high speed and while braking in this populated area, lost control and overturned, hitting two citizens who were traveling by bicycle. Official police sources confirm that the driver was detained and is expected to give his account on the causes and dynamics of the accident.
