USAID has presented this Monday the 9-million USD project for the
justice reform, in a ceremony called “Justice for Everyone”. The
Assistant Administrator of USAID for Europe and Eurasia, Thomas O.
Melia, held a speech in this ceremony.
Melia underlined the commitment of the US government for improving the justice system in Albania, and returning the citizens trust to the judiciary.
The President of the Supreme Court of Albania, Xhezair Zaganjori, was present together with other high-level representatives from the Courts of Appeal in districts and of the Administrative Court.
The projects sees them as very important actors in the justice reform process, but also as supervisors for the implementation of the reform.
Melia appealed everyone interested to take steps forward with the passing of the Justice Reform, considering the constitutional and legal amends as vital, not only for a righteous justice system, but also for a functional democracy.
“This is the right moment to do this. The further delays will damage the integration of Albania in the EU and the country’s further development”, said Thomas Melia, who sees civil society and the media as an important part for every reform to earn the public’s trust and stability.
