Unlike the previous summits held in Nis, Sarbia, and Ochrid, Northern Macedonia, the Tirana Balkan Schengen Summit will also have the presence of the US this Saturday.

Diplomatic sources said for Top Channel that the US State Department will send two special representatives to follow the Summit directly.

The US, especially the Special Envoy for the Balkans, Matthew Palmer, have supported the joint regional initiative of Albania, Serbia and Northern Macedonia.

Top Channel has also learned that the Montenegrin President, Milo Gjukanovic, will also attend the summit.

USA is concerned with Prishtina’s refusal, and diplomatic sources have told top Channel that they have urged the Kosovo authorities to be part of this initiative.

President Hashim Thaci explained on his Facebook profile that his rejection to Rama’s invitation has nothing to do with the excellent relations between Albania and Kosovo, but with the fact that Serbia doesn’t recognize Kosovo.
