American Secretary of State Antony Blinken is expected to land on Albania after noon on Thursday, February 15th.
Top Channel’s Muhamed Veliu has learned details from the preparations for Blinken’s reception in Albania, saying that Foreign Minister Igli Hasani will welcome him to Mother Teresa airport.
Secretary Blinken’s first stop is the American embassy in Tirana, then the meeting with Prime Minister Edi Rama, the only politician known so far, scheduled to talk with him.
The headline of the Blinken-Rama meeting will be security issues in the region where Russia has openly demonstrated constant de-stabilizing efforts.
Despite the fact that Russian rubles have been present in Albanian politics on two occasions, for the USA, Albania is seen as a country where the interference of foreign actors is negligible compared to neighboring countries.
Secretary Blinken is expected to deliver the messages in a joint press conference with Prime Minister Edi Rama.
The possibility of a visit to the pyramid transformed into an IT center for young people is being considered, while the meetings will continue with the head of the SPAK prosecution, Altin Dumani.
It is believed it will be a working lunch or dinner with the head of SPAK, where representatives of OPDAT, the ‘American justice mission’ in Albania, which has participated in the drafting of the justice reform and the establishment of new justice institutions since 2016.
Currently, OPDAT is one of the only international projects that has a permanent presence with an office in SPAK.
From Tirana, Secretary Blinken is expected to travel to the security conference in Munich on Friday, February 16.
