The US Embassy has reacted to the declaration of the Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama, at the Parliament of Kosovo during the celebrations of the 10th anniversary of independence.

In his speech, Rama said that in the future, Albania and Kosovo should have a common President, common foreign policy stance and security strategy.

The embassy stated today on social media that they are disappointed by the unhelpful declaration.

“The United States Embassy was disappointed by Prime Minister Rama’s remarks about Kosovo and Albania on the occasion of Kosovo’s 10th Anniversary of Independence.

Careless language alluding to unification is unhelpful and damaging to Albania’s relationships with its neighbors. We call on all leaders to be good neighbors and abandon the divisive language of the past,” the US Embassy statement says.
