The US Ambassador, Donald Lu, said that the two causes that delayed the creation of the Special Prosecution Against Corruption and the National Bureau of Investigation are now resolved.

In an exclusive declaration for Top Channel, the US Ambassador answers to questions about what is delaying the establishment of the SPAC and NBI.

“The first reason was the opposition’s stance against the Vetting Law. They lost this challenge. The second reason was due to the delays in finding qualified candidates outside the justice system for the High Council of the Judiciary and the High Council of the Prosecution. These issues are both resolved now. The candidates are passing the Vetting process. They will be functional very soon”, Donald Lu said for Top Channel.

For Lu, there is no surprise that other people don’t share his optimism.

“There is no surprise that politicians keep criticizing and planting suspicions about those structures. They were once untouchable and now they feel afraid”, Lu said.

The US Ambassador declared that the judiciary reform as the main goal of his diplomatic mission since his first day in Albania.

Lu has issued very strong accusations against politicians, judges and corrupted prosecutors about criminal gangs and decriminalization of politics.
