US Ambassador Yuri Kim said today from Shkodra that the absence of the Albanian Constitutional Court is not an unacceptable situation for a NATO member country, aspiring to become member of the EU.
“Albania has been without a Constitutional Court for a long time. It is not an acceptable situation for a member of NATO and seeking to join the EU. Participation is critical and it is important for leaders to put aside political divisions and unite towards one goal. I will play a role in supporting these efforts. I am confident that in the end they will be able to reach a compromise,” Kim said.
Meanwhile, the ambassador gave a strong message referring to special prosecution agency SPAK, asking for resistance to the pressures of those who hinder their work or intimidate judges and prosecutors.
“It is a good thing and the time has come for SPAK to be fully functional. Some are trying to hinder them in their work and will even intimidate judges and prosecutors, but the time has come for the SPAK to stand strong in front of these people,” said Kim from Shkodra.
