“UEFA awards Serbia”

The foreign media have widely reported the decision of UEFA for the
match between Serbia and Albania, a decision that was awaited with
impatience.

The three points removed by the UEFA Commission of Discipline with the argument that they refused to return.

The British press was among the first ones who transmitted this news report: “Serbia awarded with three points”, says Dailymail. The usage of this terms makes it clear that the decision was not impartial.

The same word is used by “The Guardian”, which adds that UEFA has not even identified the person who launched the drone. The same argument is used by BBC, which also changed a mistake in a pervious news report, which said that the drone had a black eagle, symbol of Greater Albania.

The US Media are more simple in their report. They say that both sides have been penalized. The same line was followed by Irish Times, which says that UEFA has drawn a line on the incident, despite the fact that next October both national teams will play in Albania, with all eyes turned on them.

The “Toscana News” says that UEFA has legitimized racism. The Italian news outlet says that it is incredible that Serbia took victory over this.

All because the Albanian national team refused to play after they faced physical violence by Serbian fans and police officers. Serbia will not enjoy those three points, since, besides the 100.000 EUR fine, they will have two matches behind closed doors.

This decision would allow Portugal to return to the game for Euro 2016, besides the fact that with this, UEFA legitimized a violent incident and gave way to racism in stadiums.
