The EU Ambassador, Ettore Sequi, met the Albanian President and handed him the European Council progress report for Albania.

During this meeting, Topi valued the European Union for the objective position towards Albania.

He emphasized that the citizens’ aspiration for EU integration remains the first priority.

“We will read the report quickly, determined to progress. I encourage all political actors to adopt a real European behavior. Politics must find the way of institutional dialogue”, Topi declared during the meeting.

The European Commission penalized Albania for the EU status.

The Commissioner for Enlargement at the EU presented a report for Albania at the European Commission, in which is underlined that despite the progresses, Albania failed to fulfill the criteria. The report also highlights the political crisis.

The Albanian Prime Minister, Sali Berisha, held a press conference after this report and blamed the opposition for not voting the laws that require qualified majority.
