Tirana US Embassy increases security

Numerous police forces took urgent measures at the Tirana US Embassy, a few minutes after the attack in Turkey.

Besides their own personnel, the Embassy asked more protection from the Albanian police forces.

This plan enters in action each time that an American embassy is attacked in any other country of the world. The Tirana Police is not allowing parked cars near the embassy, and there’s a constant control of vehicles that approach the surrounding wall.

This measures were taken after a kamikaze attack took place today in Ankara, Turkey, where one security officer and the attacker have died, several others were wounded and the surrounding neighbourhood, considered as the safest in the Turkish capital, is in a state of panic.

The US Embassy in Turkey thanked the Turkish government and their citizens for the solidarity after this sad event, and appealed the authorities to find the authors.

The Turkish Prime Minister confirmed the attacka and expressed the solidarity of the Turkish people.

Close to the US Embassy there are the Turkish Parliament and also the French and German embassies. No group has undertaken the responsibility of the attack, while the main suspicions fall on islamic extremist groups.
