The draft Budget 2012 of the Tirana Municipality was approved with 29 votes pro and 25 against, with a value of 70 million USD.

The Mayor mentioned the three main goals of this project:

“Economic development, improvement of the business climate, the life quality, focused in education, the social issues, sheltering, the investigations for new roads and green spaces. For this we demand your support”, Basha declared.

The Socialist Councilors opposed the budget by launching accusations that it is not transparent and that the investments for the city have reduced with 10%.

The Socialists also accused that the investments have been selective, favoring only the units won by the DP.

“You have copied and pasted the last budget. You accused Rama of distributing the budget to the staff, but you are doing the same. This budget has only removed funds from Socialist units and given them to the democratic ones”, Gent Gazheli declared.

“There is a great inconsistency between the standards that require a consolidated and balanced budget, conform Tirana of the citizens and the Tirana of the bunkers”, replied Ferdinand Poni from the DP.

The budget approved with 29 votes and the construction of the first underground parking near the National Stadium.

The project was voted only by the majority and they bypassed the clause that requires a qualified majority when the property will pass to a third party.
