Tirana is decorated for Easter with colorful eggs in “Skënderbej” square

“Skënderbej” Square in central Tirana was included today in the Easter atmosphere with giant colorful decorative eggs.

The giant eggs as a symbol of the Easter holiday are placed in the square painted  with spring colors. Ancient cultures saw eggs as a symbol of life, while various countries such as Egypt, Persia, Greece, Rome ate the painted eggs. Easter is the celebration of Christ’s resurrection, three days after his crucifixion.

The early Christians began to celebrate this holiday since the resurrection of Christ, the council of Nicaea decided to celebrate on a Sunday not on a fixed date, but finally it was decided that Easter be celebrated on the Sunday after the full moon of the spring equinox.
