A person was shot dead today in Elbasan, in the event apparently related to Sunday’s parliamentary elections.
The victim is Pjerin Xhuvani, newly an activist of the ruling socialist party, former member of the opposition SMI party.
Meanwhile, two others were injured, one of them a female police officer.
Preliminary information says that the event took place near the PD offices in Elbasan.
PD officials reported that shortly before the event a vehicle was circulating in the area offering money in exchange for votes, which is suspected to have been the cause of the gunfire.
The victim is a well-known name for the police, involved in a serious fight a month ago.
