The US agency against drug traffic, DEA, and the US Embassy in Tirana, congratulated the Albanian police for seizing 614 kg of cocaine.
The US Ambassador, Donald Lu, says that being the highest cocaine quantity seized in years, it is a positive indicator for the Albanian police, but also a sign of concern, showing that the traffic of cocaine and other drugs is growing.
The EU also congratulated the Albanian police. They said in a declaration that criminals will not win over the power of law.
“The Albanian state needs to be vigilant and strong against organized crime groups trying to increase drugs trafficking”, the declaration says.
The President of Albania, Ilir Meta, greeted the operation of the police and said that the main danger to the national security comes from the empowering of organized drug traffic.
The Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama, considered it a model operation, with a great significance, since it was conducted without any information from European countries.
As for Lulzim Basha, the seizing of 613 kg of cocaine is what had been warned by the Democratic Party. According to Basha, this record-breaking quantity could not enter Albania without political guarantees.
