The first court hearing on the corruption issue with the Elbasan incinerator has been postponed, where four charges of corruption against high officials were counted, from passive corruption to abuse of office and money laundering.

Four out of ten of the defendants were present at the session, namely Pëllumb Abeshi, Serafin Papa, Etleva Kondi and Bardhyl Cabiri.

Meanwhile, others were not present such as former minister Lefter Koka and its former general secretary of Ministry of Environment Alqi Blako, as well as some of the accused who continue to be on the run, declared internationally wanted.

The Special Anticorruption Court has not yet commented on the abbreviated trial in this file, as for the request filed by all the defendants. Meanwhile, another file is that of the Fier incinerator, with 30 defendants, among them legal entities.

But the court has not yet set a date for when the trial will start, as also in this case the SPAK prosecution purports millions of euros in damages caused to the Albanian state.
