The first Albanian European MP

Arba Kokalari, who lives in Stockholm, Sweden, is the first Albanian who takes a post asMP at the European Parliament.

She is part of the moderated party, which took 17.6% of the votes, taking four MPs in total.

Born in Tirana, November 27th, 1986, she was the International Secretary of the Youth Group of the party she is part of, in which she has been very active. The President of Albania, Ilir Meta, was among the first politicians that congratulated her. She was also congratulated by the Foreign Minister of Kosovo, Behgjet Pacolli.

There were many Albanian candidates this year in Belgium, Greece, Italy and Sweden.

Kokalari is also niece of Musine Kokalari, the first Albanian female writer, who graduated in La Sapienza, Rome, 1941, but was later sentenced to in prison in Albania, by the communist regime. She died in Rreshen, 1983.
