While presenting the details of how the new national theater will look after its demolition the day before, Tirana mayor Veliaj explained the decision to do it at night.
He stressed that this time was chosen after the politics were involved in the debate and the selection of the time was an attempt to fulfill the desire of the majority and minimizing risks to the minority.
“The conflict over the theater escalated when politics got involved. We judged it would be dangerous for the artists if it was demolished at any other time of the day. That is why we intervened at that hour and I am glad that we were not injured “, he said.
“These curses, swearing and lynching on this banal level confirm what I have known for a long time, that these are not theatre material, people who are involved in this heinous language have clearly never been in the theater”, he said.
