The demolition of the apartments considered without permission in the area of ‘5 Maji’, was accompanied by clashes between the police and the residents.
Today was the deadline set by the Municipality of Tirana to vacate the buildings, but some of the residents refused to leave and in some cases, the intervention of riot police was needed to forcibly remove residents from their homes, to then proceed with the demolition.
The project for the new neighborhood of 5 Maji affects the residents of administrative units no. 4 and no. 8, who according to the government will receive full compensation and housing in the new buildings to be built.
