The Albanian capital was paralyzed this afternoon for three hours as the opposition blocked five key junctions in their protest against the socialist government.
Traffic returned to normal after the rally ended, while citizens remained stuck in traffic for hours.
Initially, the blockages began at “Willson” and “Zog të Zi” squares and roundabouts and then at the other three points blocked by protesters.
Democratic supporters just like in the October 29 protest, continued with the same strategy of civil disobedience, with roadblocks, blocking access points or main traffic nodes in the capital.
The DP deputies were divided into several groups in 5 key points of Tirana, such as the City Hall, the “Black Bird” roundabout, “Elbasan Street”, “Willson Square” and “Pallati me Shigjeta”.
The opposition protest started with tensions from the first minutes, as the police opposed the blocking of the axes in the capital.
The opposition deputies, on the other hand, opposed the officers and physically clashed with them.
So far, several protesters have been escorted by the police, while one person has been injured by the water released by cannons the officers used to disperse the protesters.
