An aid mission from the Armed Forces of Albania and the National Agency of Civil Protection with 53 medical personnel have left for Turkey, where they will participate in search operations for survivors of the devastating earthquake that struck the country this Monday.

Minister of Defense Niko Peleshi, as he escorted the team, said that this is a return of the contribution to Turkey, which has helped Albania continuously, as well as during the earthquake of November 26, 2019.

“Turkey is a friendly country that has constantly supported us.

So in a way this is giving back. But even if a disaster happens to another country, our little Albania will show that it is always ready to make its capacities available, because in an emergency or solidarity we are already part of the European Mechanism of Civil Defense, where we are not only to receive, but also to give”, said Peleshi.

The Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Brigadier General Arben Kingji, the Director of the Civil Defense Agency, Haki Çako, and commanders of the FA forces were also part of the ceremony.
