The Tirana Aqueduct says that the state institutions are its main debtors.
The Aqueduct declared that the institutions own them 1.8 million USD.
“13 communes and municipalities owe us 500.000 USD, five of them occupy most of the debt. The other part of the debt, 1.3 million USD, is owed by the budget institutions”, Aqueduct declared.
The Tirana Aqueduct warned the institutions of facing the law, if not paying the obligations.
The Aqueduct went under the Tirana Municipality competences in the beginning of this month, a decision that was approved only with the votes of the majority at the Municipal Council.
The Socialist Councilors voted against, because when the Aqueduct should pass to the Municipality, the obligations towards third parties were not paid by the government, but now they will.
The left councilors reported that the government is passing the Aqueduct to the Municipality right after increasing the water price.
The Socialist councilors asked the Tirana Mayor, Lulzim Basha, to punish the responsible people that oblige categories in need to pay the cleaning bill together with the Aqueduct bill.
