SP’s Balla: New lawmakers to be investigated for collaboration with former communist security agency Sigurimi

The head of the ruling SP parliamentary group, Taulant Balla, said today that there will be a special file for all persons who will have a decision-making role in the country, in case they were collaborators with the former State Security “Sigurimi”, during the communist era.

Balla said that the SP has nothing to do with the past, at a time when, according to him, members of the opposition PD were in the Assembly with the heavy weight of cooperation with one of the bloodiest security services known in the former communist bloc.

“What MP Murrizi did here, showing nicknames of the former State Security, I did a few years ago, where on the side of the hall were the PD colleagues,” said Balla.

“They had on their shoulders the heavy burden of cooperating with one of the harshest and bloodiest services known in the former communist bloc. I think this helps either for transparency or on what the Albanian society needs.

“What Mr. Murrizi said, when he read the names of the Sigurimi nicknames did not help transparency. Apart from the decriminalization forms, we will have another measure on the collaborators with the former State Security, but it will be part of the discussion that we start in the new legislature”.
