SP TV ads, Luarasi: illegal decision

Vice Chair of the Media Monitoring Board at the Central Election Commission, Iris Luarasi, said that the decision that blocks the broadcasting of the Socialist Party TV ad is illegal.

“Central Election Commission (CEC) held a long meeting last night on discussions that were “much ado about nothing”, since everything was about the missing logo on the screen. The proposition came from four members, because it was clear that the logo was present on the video, although for a very brief period of time. This decision is not based on the law, because the law does not provide the logo size and the specific time that the logo of the subject should appear on the screen”, Luarasi said.

As for the penalties proposed against the media, one of which also addressed to Top-Channel, Luarasi said that this proposition was without any sense.

“This was something without a sense, because the report that was signed by four members said that the board proposed a penalty for four televisions. It also said that a decision had been sent to the media for stopping the broadcasting of those two TV ads. But the board does not have the right to take decisions. Its role is only that of an adviser. We cannot take decisions, we only should propose to CEC what should be done. How can you put a fine to one media, when there is no order for stopping the broadcasting of this TV ad”, said Luarasi.
