The alarming situation caused by the floods in Fier and Vlore continues
while rescue operations are evacuating residents surrounded by waters.
Many families have been evacuated so far, and based on the information on terrain, the Seman and Vjosa water levels is lowering, but it remains threatening.
In Levan, Fier, in the villages of Ferras, Martin, Bishan and Poro, rescuers have evacuated 110 families. The most difficult operations were in the “Kthesa e Qarrit” area, where 30 families were evacuated after midnight. Three of them were with women and children who had been staying on their roofs for hours.
30 families were evacuated in Frakull, from the villages of Kashishta, Kaftara and Sheqmusalala. Two army helicopters intervened at the Poro village, Frakull commune, and the Darzeza e Re village, Dermenas commune, in the Fier District.
70 families were evacuated from the Vlore district. They were endangered by the floods in Novosela, in the villages of Mifol, Fitore, Bishan, Dellenge, Delishisht and Poro.
The commune leaders have evacuated 40 families from their houses, with the help of the “Delta Force” of the Armed Forces. The Police has blocked the old Levan-Novosela road, after the superficial waters reached high levels on road. The only functional road that connects Fier with Vlore is the new highway.
