Slovakia takes EU Presidency: “Continue reforms, Western Balkan integration unchanged”

After Netherlands, Slovakia took the direction of the EU Presidency, and
while Europe faces huge challenges such as Brexit and the immigration
crisis, the Western Balkan integration process remains a priority.

“Albania has given signs that you are ready to work for the integration process, especially with the Slovakian Presidency”, said Milan Ciganik, Ambassador of Slovakia to Tirana.

The first priority, for the Slovakian presidency, is improving the Union’s economy. The second priority is the modernization and unification of markets in energy and digital economy.

The EU Ambassador to Tirana, Romana Vlahutin, said that the commitment of the EU for the region will not be damaged.

Vlahutin reminded the July 21st votes, appealed Parliament Members to make the voice of the people be heard before the decisive reform that will serve to the country’s future.

Slovakia takes the EU presidency after 12 yearas in this Union. An informal summit of EU leaders in Bratislava will be held on September 16th.
