Serbia rejects agreement

The Serbian government decided what was already warned by several. They rejected the EU offer for an agreement with Kosovo.

The decision was unanimous in Belgrade and was followed by another proposition to continue the dialogue with Kosovo, again with EU mediation.

“The government of Serbia was unable to accept the proposed principles, because they do not guarantee full security and protection of the human rights for Kosovo Serbs”, declared the Serbian Prime Minister Ivica Dacic.

“This agreement cannot be implemented and would not bring a final and stable solution”, he declared during the government meeting, which was open for the media.

Before the announcement of this decision, the Patriarch of the Serbian Orthodox Church held a meeting with President Tomislav Nikolic, Prime Minister Dacic and his Deputy, Alexander Vucic.

The meeting was held at the Patriarch’s see and it focused on Kosovo and the offer of Brussels.

The first leaving the meeting was Prime Minister Dacic, followed by Nikolic and Vucic, but none of them made any declaration for the media.
