Expert groups from Kosovo and Serbia, during a meeting mediated by EU in
Brussels, have agreed on the implementation date of the free movement
and property documentation agreements.

The news comes from a press release by the Government of Kosovo, which says:

“As for the agreement for the property ownership documents, the experts of both countries have agreed that on 20 November 2011, they will approve the plan for its full implementation”.

The communication explains that with this agreement, Serbia will be obliged to return the property ownership documents that were taken from Kosovo during the war.

Kosovo will be obliged to complete its property registration system in the northern part of the country, and resolve the contested property issues in full accordance with the Constitution and the European standards.

According to this government announcement, both delegations favored the implementation of the freedom of movement between Kosovo and Serbia.

“The Government of Kosovo confirmed of closing all necessary preparations for the implementation of this agreement”, the communication underlines.

“We also confirmed the preparations for starting the implementation of that part of the agreement that removes the illegal vehicle plates”, the document continues.

Kosovo started the dialogue with Serbia for technical matters in March 2011. Since then, under the EU mediation, both countries have achieved five agreements, but have been unable to implement them.
