Self-Determination: Kosovo economy in danger

The Self-Determination movement sees Thaci’s professional and political weakness as a danger for the economy of Kosovo.

Shpend Ahmeti from SD Movement raises the alarms that the economic indicators are deteriorating.

The record unemployment level, the decrease of remittances and the increased commercial deficit are the clearest and most shocking message that a state could receive for the country’s economy.

“The tax collection levels are decreasing. Compared to the past six months, they are much lower, which means that the business is in crisis. The figures don’t speak for a quick recovery. Meanwhile, fines against businesses have marked an increased growth from 50.000 to 800.000 EUR”, Ahmeti declared.

Self Determination Movement officials say that seeing that the ruling coalition is coming to its end, the government members are trying to give the last and most dangerous hit to the Kosovo economy, which could prove fatal for the fiscal and economic stability of the country.

The Self-Determination Movement appeals the opposition parties, such as the Democratic League of Kosovo and the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, to not give the cooperation opportunity to the government.

“Besides giving us a high way construction bill that is three times larger than the real price, they will soon start the construction of the new highway for which Betchel Enka is preparing to make another profit. They are also building the New Kosovo thermo-central, again with a foreign ownership”, Ahmedi declared.

According to the Self Determination movement, this economic situation might get worse if Kosovo will not make immediate changes.
