Ruin from debts and taxes

The Socialist leader, Edi Rama, visited the small business owners in
Lapraka. He emphasized the difficult economic situation that according
to him can be seen immediately by the long list of due payments in
groceries, and the lowered profits for their owners.

Rama declared that taxes should be removed and more incentives are needed for the small business, since the majority of Albanian families are self-employed in this category.

“The business is very low. It’s worse each year. It’s not even half of last year’s profit. We’re afraid to open the store in the morning, because people come and demand basic food such as salt and sugar, and they can’t pay for the moment”, one of the merchants declared.

As for taxes, she added that not only taxes are high, but one them was promised to be removed, but was still collected twice by the Municipality.

“I am unemployed, I have no profession. I have a sick child and my husband is also sick. We have an 8-month-old child in our house. My son is unemployed. There’s nowhere to find comfort”, a desperate woman declared.

“With this small shop I have to cover the living cost of my unemployed son and his wife. I swear on my four children that nothing remains from the profit”, another one declared.

“We will remove the small business tax. This is an average fee that will allow you to breathe. Then we will reformulate all tax schemes”, Rama told the merchants.

SP is committed to make necessary changes that according to them will guarantee for the Albanians a new development policy in support of business, honest taxation and real employment.
