In an interview for the Voice of America, the adviser of the US Helsinki Commission, Robert Hand, said that the crisis in Albania is taking place in a very critical moment for the country, as the EU tries to decide about opening the accession negotiations, and while Albania is expected to take the leadership of the OSCE.

“The country needs a responsible political leadership in this moment”, he added, underlining that the political war between the party leaders is being held without taking into account the country’s need for progress.

“I think that the current situation was summarized perfectly well by the Head of the OSCE Mission, Audrey Glover, who said that the elections were held without taking in consideration the interest of the electorate.
