Rising cases of covid-19, Manastirliu: If the deteriorating trend continues, we will restore restrictions

Raising the concerns about the increase in Covid-19 positive cases in recent days, the Minister of Health and Social Protection, Ogerta Manastirliu asked citizens to respect the rules so as not to return to the previous lockdown state.

” The relief phase only makes sense if it is accompanied by a steady decrease in the number of infections. The plan to facilitate measures depends only on the citizens cooperation. It is true that punishments are not the solution, but it is equally true that an entire nation cannot be penalized by a minority whose actions can cause incalculable damage,” said Manastirliu.

Stating that the Ministry of Health and Social Protection supports the plan of opening and easing the measures, Manastirliu emphasized that if the cases continue to increase, emergency brakes will be used.

“The increase in these numbers of new cases in recent days, is the maximum allowed by our reopening scenarios.

“Further growth would force us to take immediate steps to prevent a second shock wave, which would blow up what has been achieved to date. If we continue with the deteriorating trend of the last few days, we will be forced to take steps backwards. And this is not in anyone’s interest!

“Of course, there is no room for alarm, but we are at a time when responsibility is required off every citizen. Protecting the health of citizens is above all. The following days will becrucial for the reopening plan “, said Manastirliu.
