The Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama, said that the red lines for the
justice reform were decided by the USA and the EU, and its core is the
“vetting process”. He added that for the government, the method used for
voting the reform by the Parliament has never been a problem.

He underlined that the SP and its coalition will vote a reform that has full support from the international community, and, for this, he guaranteed that the EU and USA do nothing that damages the core of this reform.

“The formula that was proposed fulfils the request that the DP has reiterated. I am surprised they are not agreeing this time”, Rama said.

For the government leader, this is a historic reform of strategic importance for the country’s future.

The Chairman of the Special Commission for Justice Reform, Fatmir Xhafaj, left to be understood that chances for an agreement with the opposition are open.

“We will have a negotiation and this is a sign of political seriousness”, Xhafaj declared after the meeting of the Socialist Party Parliamentary Group.

As for the letter of the Parliamentary Group leader of the Socialist Movement for Integration, Petrit Vasili, Xhafaj said that it was a natural request of the SMI to get informed about the progress of the process, and I have done the same thing days ago”, Xhafaj said, underlining that Vasili has always been present in the meetings of the Special Commission.

He added that the letter was related to several details. Xhafaj rejected the opposition’s accusations that the commission was working unilaterally and invited them to join the table.
