The Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama, warned the Democratic Party about the importance of realizing the vetting process.
“If the Democratic Party will not unblock the Vetting Law within May, the agreement is broken. The Vetting Law is why we made the agreement. Within May, the majority and opposition MPs must appoint the list of experts verified by the International Monitoring Operation, the members of the two Vetting Commissions”, PM Rama said.
Sources close to the Prime Minister said for Top Channel that there has been no problem so far with the implementation of the agreement, but the Prime Minister held this stance after former PM Sali Berisha declared that the Vetting Law will not be done with the Directors of Edi Rama, a process that starts after the Parliament establishes the Vetting institutions.
Rama explained the agreement with the opposition, saying that they are in government to guarantee the elections.
“The government is there to guarantee the elections, so that they will not come up on June 26th and say that it was stolen and things like that”, Rama said, reiterating once again that the Socialist Party needed 71 parliamentary seats.
“These faces have driven this people crazy for the past quarter of a century. They must receive an answer from this people on June 25th. We want to lead the government without other people on our lap. We are in a historic moment today. The first match is over and we are leading the game. Now there is the return match. Do you want to close it with a victory for all Albanians? Do you want to win the second half by increasing the economy and employment, as we fought for the Vetting Law? You have the evidence for that”, Rama said.
