The Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama, presented the new economic
program and fiscal package to the business through which the government
aims to recover the economy and put the public finances under control.
Rama declared that the draft is being checked with the international
partners.
“We have agreed for a gradual reduction of the deficit, so that we can allow an economic growth. This is a basic agreement on which we are very optimistic, because on that is based the courage to advance”, Rama declared.
The government leader declared that regardless of the difficult situation, the government has stood to the promise of lowering taxes for most of the Albanian taxpayers.
“We have always been clear that we would stand to our basic principle: who earns more will pay more, and who earns less will pay less. There will be lowered taxes for 95% of the people”, Rama underlined.
The government leader declared that there will be fewer taxes for small business, which will be free of local taxes and will pay a smaller tax on profit. As for the larger companies, Rama declared that they will have a soft increase in the tax on profit, which will not burden companies without paying the debt first.
“We will not take debts in the future to pay the present. We must take advantage from the present to guarantee the future. We don’t have to turn the future of our children into a debt, leaving them with a burden for a different future”, Rama declared.
In the meeting of the National Economic Council, together with the government leader, were the representatives of the International Monetary Fund and from the World Bank.
