The Vice President of the CDU-CSU group in the German Bungestag Johann David Wadephul said yesterday that the electoral reform in Albania must be approved by the Parliament without changes.

Asked about this by Top Channel’s Muhamed Veliu, Prime Minister Edi Rama said in a communication to the media that the declaration was biased:

“Germany is a point of reference for what it embodies on the functioning of democracy, it is a powerful locomotive that leads Europe. But yesterday’s Wadephul statement was hasty, he is a friend of  (DP opposition head) Basha and also mine. I really appreciate his efforts, what he has contributed for the country but yesterday’s statement invalidates the national assembly.

“That agreement cannot be a condition to stop the Assembly from going beyond it.

“In the ethical plan is disappointing, one must speak with facts, he did not invent it but he has heard that the constitutional initiative forbids coalitions, which is untrue, they will simply be like in any European country, where parties have the right to group as they want, as does his own party. In the political plan it is taking the side of the opposition.

“I want to deal with the essence, I am sorry for the fact that yesterday’s statement also calls into question the prospects for negotiations, but the Bundestag did not set as a condition for us to make Basha happy. The Bundestag and the EC have asked the country to adopt an electoral reform, full stop. The country should not be judged on words and political bias, but should be judged on basis of facts.
