The Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama, declared in an interview for the French TV “France 24” that the opposition’s protest is an internal matter that has no reason to end up in the front pages of international media.
“I think this is not something for international matters. It is the internal life of a country. The opposition is protesting and there is a government in power. Asking the resignation of the Prime Minister, this happens very often, since we have entered democracy. When I speak in a foreign language I never speak about the opposition, because it is an internal matter of Albania”, Rama said.
The Prime Minister added that Albania is not knocking on the EU doors to become a member right away, but they are preparing for opening the accession negotiations.
“Europe is suffering an internal criticism. There are many reasons for this criticism, but the main thing, according to me, is that it is the first time that Europe has a generation that has not known war. It is not about enlarging the EU, but about continuing on the same line, on what your president has mentioned, which is enlarging the EU but also reforming it”, Rama said.
